For the past 6 months, I’ve heard so much about Korean-style fried chicken — which is basically super crispy chicken with tangy sauce of your choice. Friends and family have been raving about a new restaurant called “Bon Chon” that is very popular in Northern Virginia.  Also I have a friend who has recently visited Korean and had this type of chicken at “Kyochon”.

My dad gave me this recipe.  My brother and I grew up eating spareribs prepared this Chinese way.  There are any a few ingredients, but it yields a lot of flavor.  It’s slightly salty, but if you eat it with rice it should balance out.

Spam musubi is a popular Hawaiian snack, which is basically Spam with rice in a seaweed wrapper.  Even though my family lived in Hawaii, I never had this before.  Actually, I was introduced to this delicious treat a few weeks ago the day of my close friends’ wedding by a fellow bridesmaid, Mary.  Mary told me that one piece sells for $1-2 at 7-Elevens in Hawaii!
