Hot Tuna is a local Virginia Beach bar and restaurant, which is known for it’s good food and fun night-life.  The entree price range of the food is around $10-20, which is pretty reasonable for seafood.  We ordered the calamari, Absolute Chesapeake pasta and fish tacos.

crabs

Steamed blue crabs are plentiful in Hampton Roads — thanks to the Chesapeake Bay.   Eating steamed crabs with a bowl of rice and vinegar garlic dipping sauce is the typical Filipino meal.  The sauce is very simple to make and adds a very nice zest, instead of just using Old Bay.

My brother, Ryan, made up this recipe.  It’s simplicity brings out the flavor of the fish.  I was a little surprised that there isn’t any egg wash or buttermilk bathes, but the fish still ended up moist and crispy.
